Fusion Science Theater Methods Workshops
Level 1
Fusion Science Theater offers a half-day interactive workshops on using various FST methods in and out of the classroom. At present, workshops are available on the following methods:
- Modeling Concepts through Act-It-Outs—This interactive workshop teaches the basic process and skills required to create a physical dramatization that will allow your students to take part in a dynamic model of a science concept. These dramatizations (or Act-It-Outs) can be used to illustrate, explain, and predict the results of science demonstrations.
- Inquiry as Plot—Every student learns better when they are engaged by a question and want to figure out the answer. This workshop teaches you how to use the tools of playwrights to create a learning experience that grabs, holds, and guides the attention of the audience. This method, invented by Fusion Science Theater, combines principles of science and playwriting, and supports best practices in science education.
Level 2
This three-day workshop provides the opportunity for educators and/or scientists to work together with members of the Fusion Science Theater team to develop their own custom-made SI Show, Investigation Demonstration show, or FST-enhanced activity. Team members model the process of developing a show while working with participants to create a show that fits their goals and objectives.
