WORKSHOP
“Creating Demo Shows that Teach and Inspire”

American Chemical Society annual meeting, San Francisco

Watch for our listing in the ACS annual meeting schedule, or contact us for details.

This is your chance to dramatically* improve your favorite demonstration! By the end of this workshop, you’ll have first-hand experience with using the principles of Fusion Science Theater (FST) to create chemical demonstration shows that engage young audiences through active learning.  Funded by the National Science Foundation, FST integrates theater techniques with the best practices of science pedagogy like inquiry, participation, and modeling. The workshop includes (1) a brief introduction to the FST Model; (2) a template for designing your own show around your favorite demonstration; (3) personalized guidance from the creators of FST on applying what you’ve learned; and (4) an opportunity to network with like-minded colleagues from across the country in a fun and active environment. This workshop is designed for anyone interested in chemical education outreach.
